MODELING
TIPS
- Make the sittingorphoto
shoot fun. Whenmykids
modeled in the studio,we’d
listen to music oraudiobooks,
make silly faces toloosenup
and treat the sessionsasa
no-pressure waytospend
time together. - Pay attentiontothelight.
If you’re photographinginthe
house or yard, beawareofareas
where the light isgoodandtake
advantage of that.I usedtokeep
a small children’stablebya
north window. - Take a lot of photos.I’llshoot
several hundredphotosduringa
session. They’rekeptinfileson
my computer whereI still
reference them. - Respect theirspaceand
privacy. If your modelsaren’t
in the mood, don’tforceit.Any
discomfort will showintheir
expression and bodylanguage. - Avoid posing youngchildren.
Capturing them incandid
moments in goodlightwillgive
you the best results. - Pay older kids.If they’re
posing as a studiomodel,this
encourages bothofyoutotake
the work seriously. - Make it a collaboration.
