THE HIDDEN NAZI CACHE
These photographs, taken by an Army offi cer, document
some of the discoveries made by Hough’s team in and around
Saalfeld, the German city where the Americans fi nally located the
major map and data repository of the German Army. The Germans
had hastily moved the invaluable materials from Berlin, stashing
them in warehouses and other buildings lest they be destroyed
by Allied bombs targeting the capital city.
