The federal government
has delivered a $1.8 million
grant for the development
of Walking Football,
an initiative to help older
Aussies get more active.
Aimed to improve both the
physical and mental health
of seniors, this low-impact,
team-based exercise is
a fun alternative to the
globally popular sport.
Regardless of fitness levels
or football experience,
anyone can get involved.
The game will soon be
rolled out across the
country. For more info,

Australian researchers have recently concluded that
the key to good HbA1c levels in children may be in
their snacks. Published in the journal BMJ Open
Diabetes Research & Care, all participants had three
meals per day, with 81 per
cent snacking in both the
morning and afternoon.
Those who snacked
had, on average, a higher
HbA1c than those
who only ate
their regular
meals. More
research
to follow.
