he Hilton Head Island Seafood Festival
is a family-friendly, week-long culinary
and cultural tourism event, where
top chefs, mixologists, sommeliers, artisans,
live music, local seafood, and wildlife come
together. Taking place February 24 through
March 1, 2020, the festival is hosted by the
David M. Carmines Memorial Foundation and
features quintessential Lowcountry cuisine
that celebrates all that makes Hilton Head
Island unique. To ensure you don’t miss out

The award-winning James Beard
Foundation Celebrity Chef Tour Dinner
off ers the ultimate culinary journey. Hosted
by the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort
at The Shorehouse, the dinner series brings
a taste of what happens at the James Beard
House in New York City to Hilton Head Island.
This one-night-only event features wine
pairings and a diverse group of James Beard
Foundation Award winners and nominees in a
beautiful coastal setting.
For incredible demonstrations harborside
at the South Carolina Yacht Club, you won’t
want to miss the variety of Celebrity Chef
Demonstrations off ered. You’ll learn the
techniques, special ingredients, and seasonal
selections that make for extraordinary dishes
you can execute at home while sampling the
dishes prepared along with beverage pairings.
The Pitmaster 101 class, a hidden
gem of the festival, takes place Friday from
4 to 6 p.m. This year’s guests will learn from
pitmaster Bryan Furman of B’s Cracklin’ BBQ
as he shares his special barbecue techniques

and new sauces that will hit shelves soon.
Aft er the class, head over to the Pig Pickin’
& Oyster Roast and spend a casual evening
tasting barbecue from some of the South’s
best pitmasters in a stunning location.
This gathering brings chefs and pitmasters
from all over together to prepare local oysters,
shrimp, chicken, and whole hog barbecue.
Aft er you sample and enjoy the plethora of
food, wash it all down with brews, wines, and
signature drinks.
The Saturday Seafood Festival is the
week’s main attraction and is held at Honey
Horn Plantation. The lively day features area
restaurants and chefs serving up seafood
specialties and other tasty cuisine, celebrity
chef cooking demonstrations, a five-story
Ferris wheel, plenty of kids’ activities, a silent
auction, beer garden, artisan market, food
and mixology demonstrations, and more. Did
we mention the live music that goes along
with all the festivities?
No matter what events you choose to
attend during the festival, there’s something
exciting and delicious for everybody to enjoy!
