MY FAMILY IS AT THE CORE OF WHO I AM and at the core of everything I do. My brother,

Bubba, my husband, Michael, and I have been so blessed to watch our children grow, get

married, and start families of their own, and it always makes my heart full to see them fi ll every

seat around my table.

My brother has supported me through thick and thin from day one, and I want to dedicate

this issue to him. He passed away in August after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer, but he

was positive right up to the end and encouraged us so much. We’re all so grateful he was able to

be a part of our Deen-Groover family Th anksgiving last year, and I’m happy to be sharing it with

y’all this year, starting on page 27.

Creating memories with loved ones is what makes the holidays so special. Th ese late fall and

early winter months contain so much to celebrate, and I know you’ll need lots of classic and

creative recipes to please a crowd. In addition to our Turkey Day feast, my Christmas meal this

year (pages 47–52) is loaded with heaping helpings of Southern fl avor. Th ese special occasions

wouldn’t be the same without decadent sweets, and whether you’re baking for a cookie swap or

creating a dessert buff et for a holiday party, these tasty recipes, starting on page 53, will bring

lots of good cheer.

When you need a break from holiday decadence, try my bold and spicy Tex-Mex-inspired

Sunday supper meal (pages 41–46), plus all my Weekly 5 recipes starting on page 21 for quick

and easy meals in a fl ash.

No matter how you celebrate the season, I hope it’s with comforting, hearty meals, indulgent

sweet treats, and precious time with those you love most.
