EAT LUNCH AT DANNY’S DELI
Don’t let its small outward appearance fool you;
family-owned Danny’s (dannysdeli.net/cleveland Ohio)
is a big Cleveland gem. Its corned beef sandwiches
are legendary. Bring your appetite and ask for
the Jaw Breaker, a massive serving of the best
homemade corned beef you will ever have. But be
sure to dine early; Danny’s closes daily at 2:30 p.m.
GET A DRINK AT PORCO LOUNGE
& TIKI ROOM This authentic tiki lounge
(porcolounge.com) is a fun stop after dinner. Many of
its cocktails are made with freshly squeezed juices and
house-made syrups. The drink menu is extensive, so
it’s hard to pick a favorite. If pressed, I’d go with the
Zombie, made with lime juice, passion fruit syrup, and
rum. Pace yourself though; the drinks are strong!
VISIT THE ZOO’S INDOOR RAIN
FOREST If you’re traveling with kids, you’ll
want to check out The RainForest at the Cleveland
Metroparks Zoo (clevelandmetroparks.com/zoo), home
to more than 10,000 plants and 600 animals from
the jungle. Even in winter, the indoor rain forest habitat
is a comfy 80 degrees. Don’t forget to stick around for
the simulated thunderstorm that rumbles through every
30 minutes on the lower level.
