placement. Sew dark red E’s and
2 white D’s together as shown to
make a sash. Make 4 sashes total.
Sew 3 blocks rows of 4 D’s and
3 blocks each as shown. Join sash
rows and block rows together, alternat-
ing.
4 Sew together 22 assorted red print E’s
to make side pieced border 1. Make
2 and join to both sides of quilt. Join
24 assorted red E’s to make top
pieced border 1. Repeat to make bot-
tom pieced border 1. Join to top and
bottom of quilt.
5 Refer to Borders in Quilt Basics. Join
light blue border strips and cut to sizes
shown in Assembly Diagram. Match-
ing centers and ends, sew border side
strips to quilt. Repeat to add border
top and bottom strips.
6 Layer, baste, and quilt. Masterpiece

McCall’s Quilting, used Pearl Refl ec-
tions by Kanvas Studio to make her
quilt. Kanvas Studio applied a pearl-like
fi nish to areas of the fabric, making it
luminescent and appear to glow, giving
Tracy’s version of Peppermint Candies a
cool and frosty sheen.
