3 Referring to Diagram III, sew together
4 unit 2’s, 4 pale blue B’s, and 1 yel-
low B as shown to make block. Make
8 blocks total.

for following steps, watching unit and
block placement and orientation. Sew
units and blocks into 3 rows as shown.
Join rows together.
5 Refer to Borders in Quilt Basics. Join
yellow border 1 strips and cut to sizes
shown in Assembly Diagram. Match-
ing centers and ends, sew border side
strips to quilt. Repeat to add border
top and bottom strips.
6 Add navy border 2 in same way.
7 Layer, baste, and quilt. Abigail machine
quilted Becker’s Shooting Star by Bar-
bara Becker across the quilt surface.
Bind the quilt.
Cut
Patches are lettered in order of use.
Measurements include ¼ ̋ seam allow-
ances. Border strips will be pieced and
cut to exact length needed. You may
want to make them longer to allow for
piecing variations.
- Light blue batik, medium blue batik,
and dark blue batik
cut from each:
3 strips 2 ̋ x WOF - Pale blue batik
16 squares 2⅜ ̋ (A)
32 squares 2 ̋ (B) - Yellow batik
4 strips 1¼ ̋ x WOF for border 1
16 squares 2⅜ ̋ (A)
8 squares 2 ̋ (B) - Navy batik
4 strips 2½ ̋ x WOF for border 2
4 strips 2½ ̋ x WOF for binding
NOTE: Fabrics in the quilt shown are Sea
to Space by Connecting Threads Fabrics.
Sew
1 Referring to Diagram I, join 1 each
light blue batik, medium blue batik,
and dark blue batik 2” strip to make
band as shown. Make 3 bands. Cut
bands into segments 5”-wide to make
22 unit1’s.
2 Referring to Triangle-Squares in Quilt
Basics and to Diagram II, join pale
blue batik A’s and yellow batik A’s to
make 32 unit 2’s as shown.
