A great variety of common objects use a box (basic rectangle) as
their foundation shape. Therefore, once you can draw a box in two-
point perspective, you’ll be well on your way to drawing many
subjects that were previously difficult for you to master.



  1. This X marks the spot for the vanishing point on the left, called
    “vanishing point left.”

  2. This line is called the horizon line. Like any sketched guideline, it’s
    not a permanent part of the image. Its purpose is to serve as a
    reference for the artist.

  3. This X marks the vanishing point on the right, called “vanishing
    point right.”

  4. This line represents the top left side of the box.

  5. This line creates the other side of the box. Allow the lines to
