Where Do the Voices on EVP Come
From? It is a mystery. No one knows, but
some possible suggestions are:
- They are voices of the dead.
Therefore, many researchers go to
cemeteries seeking EVPs (often with
great success). - They are from another dimension.
- They come from the researchers’
own subconscious. It’s been
suggested that somehow the
researchers’ thoughts are projected
onto the tape. - The voices are angelic or demonic in
origin. - It’s a hoax. Sceptics assert that there
is nothing to EVP at all—that the
“voices” are either faked, random
noise interpreted as voices, real
voices already on the tape, or voices
picked up from radio, cell phone, or
other sources.
The Best way to use EVP is to record
silence. i.e.: in a room with no one around
and leave it to record. Then once done,
playback and see if you have recorded
anything. You may also have white noise
in the background and using a good
site like Audacity can clear this out. The
recordings can be faint, so once you have
had some practise then you can start
asking questions and then you will notice
that the voices become louder.
Thomas Edison the famous Inventor
is known as the father of EVP due
to an interview he did back in the
1920s, in which he said “that the
human personality survives after
experiencing death”, he also went
on to say “that it might be possible
to construct an apparatus which
will be so delicate that is there are
personalities in another existence or
sphere that wishes to get in contact
with us, that this apparatus will give
them a better opportunity to express
themselves rather than the Ouija and
table tipping”.
The 1st recorded EVP did not happen until
1959, when a Swedish birdwatcher was
on his own and when he played back his
recording he had strange voices coming
through, he also noticed that the voices
were responding to comments he had
been making at the time. Interesting!
Now that you know what electronic
voice phenomena is all about, it is time
to try contacting the spirit world using
the equipment you may have at home.
You will need a recording device with a
microphone to record sound, playback
technology like a laptop or computer and
some static which would be a source of
background noise such as a fan or radio
so that you can pick up the best signals.
A Successful EVP recording requires
patience and determination, because
you may not get results with your first
attempt.
The different types of EVP recordings you
can get are as follows -
- Class A: Easily understood by
almost anyone with little or no
dispute. These are also usually the
loudest EVPs. - Class B: Usually characterized by
warping of the voice in certain
syllables. Lower in volume or more
distant sounding than Class A.
Class B is the most common type of
EVP. - Class C: Characterized by excessive
warping. They are also common, the
difference being that it is very hard
to understand what is being said. - Class D: Usually debunked as
background noise, or your mind
playing tricks on you.

ELECTRONIC VOICE PHENOMENA
E
lectronic Voice Phenomena, or
otherwise known as its initials
of EVP is an exciting piece of
technology working alongside
the spirit world, offering is the
living to communicate with our loved
ones who have now passed.
EVP is the appearance of strange and
often nonsensical utterings, voices
or speech recorded when no one is
present whilst the recording was
being done. (other than those doing
the recording). Many people report of
hearing sentence’s, names and much
more coming through in the recording,
and some describe the EVP similar to a
dog, hearing things that the human ear
does not. EVP can also pick up any form
of electronic communication, such as
radio and video. EVP are ghostly voices
that appear on audio equipment or
similar items like a smartphone.
