here are times when

you get called out

to an investigation

that’s so shocking

that you know you’ll

never forget it as long as

you live.

The case I’m about to

recount was one of the

most horrifying I’ve ever

encountered during my

decade of working with a

private paranormal team

based in Norfolk. The

evidence obtained whilst at

the property was so accurate

that we were able to identify

exactly who was doing the

haunting, along with details

of his sickening crimes

and equally grisly death.

Therefore, all details of the

residents and team members

have been kept confidential,

as this investigation proved

disturbing for some. All

names except mine have

been changed.

The house looked just

like any other in the

peaceful, Nineteen-forties

Attleborough cul-de-sac.

When we arrived, the sun still

shone and the neighbours

went about their evening,

weeding gardens and

washing cars.

“I certainly couldn’t

have guessed from

outward appearances

what had been

occurring behind

closed doors, or the

disturbing nature of

what happened there

historically.”

On arrival, homeowners Dan

and Claire invited us in and

introduced themselves. I

immediately liked this warm,

open family and struck up an

instant rapport with Claire,

chatting as if we were old

friends. Meanwhile Ted, who

led the group, carried out

baseline tests around the

property first to establish

if there were any unusual

energy hotspots around.

Claire told myself and

another team member that

around a week before, she’d

awoken in the middle of the

night to find the bedside

unit thumping and rattling.

Her initial assumption was

that it was her youngest

daughter Sophie, who was

sleeping next to her. When

she woke the girl and asked

what she was doing, Sophie

replied that she hadn’t done

anything. Both terrified,

they ran screaming from

the room. The next morning,

everything on the unit had

been thrown off onto the

floor, and the wall still bore

marks where it shook and

slammed against it hard

enough to take plaster off.
