All eyes on

Bucharest

An unusual draw will take place in the

Romanian capital on November 30

T

he draw for the finals of Euro
2020 will be like no other. With
next summer’s tournament
being held in 12 venues spread
across the continent, seven of the 20
qualified countries already know in which
first-round group they will be drawn.
The seven “host” nations will be placed
automatically in pre-determined groups
to ensure they are at home in at least
two group games.
As Rome is one of the two host venues
for Group A, Italy will be placed in that
group. Similarly, with
St Petersburg due to
host matches, Russia
will be in Group B.
The same goes for Holland
(Amsterdam, Group C),
England (Wembley, Group
D), Spain (Bilbao, Group E)
and Germany (Munich,
Group F), along with
Denmark (Copenhagen)
who will be in Group B
with Russia.
The make-up of
the pots is based upon
UEFA’s overall European
qualifying rankings and
each first-round group
will contain one team
from each pot.
