GAMBIA: Bakery Jatta, who arrived
in Germany as a refugee and has
played for Hamburg since 2016, is
named in the provisional squad for
November’s Africa Cup of Nations
qualifiers. “I couldn’t select him
earlier because he was not yet
cleared,” says Gambia coach Tom
Saintfiet of the 21-year-old striker
who was investigated earlier this
year over his identity following
queries from three second-tier
German sides. The authorities
found no reason to take action
under immigration law and the
clubs withdrew their objections.

ENGLAND: Leyton Orient postpone

following suggestions that it might

fans. The Dutch club are playing

are banned from selling tickets.
However, with up to 2,000 Ajax
supporters having already booked
travel and accommodation,
