Sewing Instructions
- Referring to the Quilt Assembly Diagram sew two 2½" x 36½" green print
sashing strips between the three quilt rows.
2. Sew the 1¾" x 36½" green print side inner border strips to each side of the
unit from Step 1.
3. Sew the 1¾" x 31" green print top and bottom inner border strips to the
top and bottom of the unit from Step 2 to complete the quilt center. - Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of 52 — 2½"
black print squares. - With right sides together, layer a marked black print square on top of a
2½" x 4½" blue print #1 rectangle. Sew on the drawn line, cut a ¼" from the
drawn line, and press back the resulting triangle.
You may need to
adjust one of the black
border pieces on each
side depending on the
measurement of the quilt
center. The sides should
measure 39" and once the
side borders are added,
the top and bottom
should also measure 39."
Tip
- With right sides together, layer a marked black print square on top of the
other end of the unit from Step 5. Sew on the drawn line, cut a ¼" from the
drawn line, then press back the resulting triangle to complete the Flying
Geese unit. - Repeat Steps 5 and 6 to create a total of eight blue #1/black Flying Geese
units. - Repeat Steps 5 and 6 to create a total of nine blue #2/black Flying Geese units.
- Repeat Steps 5 and 6 to create a total of nine brown/black Flying Geese units.
- Referring to the Quilt Assembly Diagram, sew four strips of five Flying
Geese units together positioning colors as indicated for borders. - Repeat Step 10 to make two strips of three Flying Geese units for borders.
From black print, cut:
4 — 2½” x WOF strips, then sub-cut into:
52 — 2½” squares for Flying Geese
3 — 4½” x WOF strips for outer borders, then sub-cut into:
1 each 4½” x 1¾”, 4½” x 8”, and 4½” x 14¼” for right side units
1 each 4½” x 4”, 4½” x 6½”, and 4½” x 13½” for left side units
1 each 4½” x 3½” and 4½” x 26” for top units
1 each 4½” x 13” and 4½” x 16½” for bottom units
5 — 2 ¼” x WOF strips for binding
