This quilt has a feel for the first blooms that burst through
the snow when warmer temps are near. The yarn that is
couched onto each block adds a primitive style for warmth
and character. It is easy and fun to stitch!

Material Requirements


2¼ yards multicolored tan print for background

(^1) / 8 yard each of 25 prints
(5 red, 5 blue, 5 yellow, 5 green, 5 purple) for flower petals
1¾ yards dark brown plaid Homespun for sashing, border and binding
4 yards fabric of choice for backing
1 skein Lion Brand Wool Ease chunky yarn in dark brown/gray
(sturdy with texture)
Sturdy dark brown thread to whip stitch wool yarn
Appliqué thread to match petal fabrics
Water soluble marking pen
Washable appliqué glue
Freezer Paper

Appliqué Preparation and Cutting Instructions
See page 7 for general appliqué preparation instructions. Missie recommends
making a double layer of freezer paper for Template A to make a more sturdy
template. Only one layer is needed for Template B to make a wool yarn guide.
From multicolored tan print, cut:
7 – 10" x WOF strips the sub-cut into:
25 – 10" squares for backgrounds
From 25 prints, cut:
4 of Template A from each for a total of 100 petals
