Sewing Instructions



  1. Glue baste a petal into each corner of a background block abutting the
    corners. Needle turn each petal in place. Arrange the petal colors randomly
    across the quilt.

  2. Repeat to make a total of 25 blocks.


3. Position Template B with corners abutting the block corners then with a
water soluble marking pen, trace the perimeter on the background around
each petal for a yarn shape guide.


  1. Using the sturdy dark brown thread, whip stitch the wool yarn in place
    over the traced line. Take an extra stitch at the beginning and end to lock the
    yarn in place.

  2. Lay out the 25 blocks, making five rows of five blocks taking care with
    position of colors.

  3. When pleased with the arrangement, sew five blocks together with four
    2¼" x 10" dark brown plaid Homespun sashing strips between to make a
    quilt row. Repeat to make five rows.


7. Measure the width of each row and use the average of this measurement
to make the horizontal sashing strips. They should measure 55".


  1. Sew together eight of the 12 – 2¼" x WOF dark brown plaid Homespun
    strips then sub-cut them to make four horizontal sashing strips. (55")

  2. Referring to the Quilt Assembly Diagram, sew the five block rows together
    with the four horizontal sashing strips from Step 8 to complete the quilt center.


From dark brown plaid Homespun, cut:
5 – 2¼" x WOF strips then sub-cut into:
20 – 10" strips for vertical sashing
12 – 2¼" x WOF strips for horizontal sashing (8) and outer borders (4)
7 – 2¼" x WOF strips for binding

From Lion Brand yarn, cut:
100 – 12" strips for embellishing blocks
