Sewing Instructions

  1. Position the hill, house, vines, flowers, leaves and crow
in place on the 9" x 10½" brown plaid wool background
and affix in place using your favorite method.

  2. Use a blanket stitch to stitch around the house,
ground, bird, wing, door and tulips.

3. Refer to the stitching diagram to embellish the center
of each tulip. Use a straight stitch with a French knot on
the end to add stamens to each tulip.

  1. Use a fishbone stitch for each leaf and a Herringbone
    stitch for each stem.

  2. Use long straight stitches to create window panes
with a small cross stitch at each intersection. Stitch a
small cross stitch for the door knob as well. Refer to
the stitching diagram to embellish the roof with feather
    stitches.

  3. Use a Micron pen to write your name on the scrap
of cream print. Iron stitchery stabilizer to the back side.
Using a backstitch, stitch the lettering in place. Turn
under a ¼" seam allowance then refer to the stitching
diagram to sew the label to the hill.

  4. Once stitching is complete, iron Soft Fuse to the back
    of the stitched piece.
    8. Remove the paper backing and position on the burlap
bag. Carefully iron to the bag, taking care to move the
iron in an up and down movement so as not to scorch
    the wool.
    9. Use a sharp needle to blanket stitch around the outer
edges of the wool to complete your sewing bag. (Kay’s
bag was lined with plastic, but if yours is not use your
    favorite needle-type for this step.)
