TRAVEL WRITING
COMPETITION 2019
Earlier this year, we invited you to submit your
travel writing to our prestigious annual awards.
Up for grabs was the chance to see your name in
print and win a fabulous trip to Southern Africa. We
received hundreds of entries, revealing some great
untapped talent and unique travellers’ tales. Ater
much deliberation, we whittled the entries down to
three. They include a mysterious encounter with a
geisha in Kyoto, an overnight stay in a Mongolian ger
and — our winner — a vivid portrayal of a lesser-
known corner of Bolivian culture.
