A Family Thing

The new Alpine Eagle watch is
the result of two generations
of young Scheufeles behind
the family-run Chopard. At
22, Karl-Friedrich gave his
father an idea that inspired the
original St. Moritz timepiece,
launched in 1980. Forty years
later, Karl-Friedrich’s 17-year-
old son insisted on reviving
the old design. In keeping
with Chopard’s commitment to
sustainability, the new Alpine
Eagle is made of specially
developed Lucent steel that
is mostly recycled and double
melted. It is stronger, anti-
allergenic, scratch-proof,
whiter in color and lighter than
traditional steel. ($12,900,
