Vienna,Austria,is thedevelopmentfinanceinstitutionestablishedbythe
membercountriesofOPECin1976.
TheOPECFundworksincooperationwithdevelopingcountrypartners
and theinternationaldonorcommunitytostimulateeconomicgrowth
and alleviate poverty in developing countries across the world. The
organizationis uniqueinsupportingonlydevelopingcountriesotherthan
itsownmembers.
Todate,theOPECFundhasmadecommitmentsofmorethanUS$
billionto developmentoperationsacrossmorethan 134 countries.

timeequallybetweenbothpositions.

adaptationrelated toenvironmental hazards andglobal change. TheInstitute’s
researchpromotespoliciesandprogrammestoreducetheserisks,whiletakinginto

ThePosition:TheDirectoris thechiefacademicandadministrativeofficerofUNU-
EHS.TheUNUVice-Rectorin Europe(UNU-ViE)representstheUNURectoroutsideof
Japanin selectedhigh-levelUNforums,in meetingswithMemberStatesanddonors,
andvis-à-visUNUinstituteslocatedin EuropeandAfrica.
Qualifications:TheDirectorshouldhaveacademicqualificationsthatlendtoUNU-
EHSprestigein theinternationalscholarlycommunity;guaranteescientific excellence;
andprovideleadershipandguidanceforactivitiesat UNU-EHSandUNU-ViE.
Experience: Strong research background and publications in areas related to
addressing risks and societal change. Demonstrated administration experience.
Successfulinfluencingofpolicymakers.Strongcontributionstoknowledgesharing
communities.Stronginternationalfundraisingskillsand pastsuccessinsecuring
supportfrommultiplefunders.Provensensitivitytogenderfactors.
Fluencyin Englishis required.Fluencyin GermanandofficiallanguagesoftheUnited
Nationsis desirable.
