The launches to know now,
by Lauren Murdoch-Smith

LAYING THE FOUNDATIONS
From shade diversity to texture and radiance, we’re
asking more of our foundations than ever, and brands are
delivering. Laura Mercier has reformulated its famous tinted
moisturiser to make it more luminous (there are eight more
shades, to boot). Pat McGrath’s Skin Fetish Foundation

  • the last step in her three-step “backstage skin” regime – is
a buildable foundation that feels and looks like a second
skin. Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Foundation is the
sister product of her Hollywood Flawless Filter Complexion
Booster, and mirrors the illuminating and blurring effect of
the filter but with more coverage. Meanwhile, Sisley’s
Phyto-Teint Ultra Eclat and Shiseido’s Synchro Skin
    Self-Refreshing Foundation boast skincare benefits
as well as radiance boosting, velvety textures.

I

t’s no surprise that the first fragrance by Nars was
five years in the making. François Nars, the brand’s
founder, is a scent obsessive, so his debut offering
had to be perfect. Working with Olivia Giacobetti

  • the nose behind some of our favourite Diptyque scents
(Philosykos and Ofresia) – Audacious, £125, is a mix
of white frangipani, incense, sandalwood and Nars’s
signature tiare flower note. This subtly sexy but
sophisticated perfume works just as well on the beach
as it does at a party. Much like Nars’s make-up.

Scent of perfection

Shades of winter

Cry easily?
Perspire under
pressure? Two
make-up brands have
you covered. Tom
Ford’s Emotionproof
collection features a
concealer, £42, and
an eyeliner, £32, that
are particularly
resilient, while It
Cosmetics’s Bye Bye
Under Eye Concealer,
£25, is waterproof,
covers dark circles
and stays put,
whatever happens.

ENDURANCE
TESTED

The classic winter-berry manicure is back.
This time, however, don’t automatically
go for darker shades, try hawthorn and
holly berry, too – CND’s Vinylux in
First Love, £11, or Essie’s Forever
Yummy, £8, will work. One final note?
Experiment with nail length.
