For the latest outing of the Gourmet

Traveller x Sorry Thanks I Love You

Christmas boutique, we called on

leading producers, sommeliers and

chefs to help us toast the occasion.

I

t’s been a busy month of tastings for the Gourmet
Traveller Christmas Boutique – a collaboration
with our long-time friends Sorry Thanks I Love
You and some of Gourmet Traveller’s Restaurant
Award-winning chefs and sommeliers. The pop-up was
always bound to be a feast for all, not least because it
was twice the size of last year’s. For the boutique’s
second year, Gourmet Traveller collaborated with Sorry
Thanks I Love You to select close to 200 of Gourmet
Traveller’s favourite smallgoods and booze to line the
shelves, all in the name of Christmas.
At the opening soirée at The Rocks boutique,
guests were treated to a first look at the tasty spoils:
from single-source honey, craft spirits, coffee and
chocolate to chutneys, preserves, natural wine and
panettone. The small-batch goods sat alongside kitchen
staples such as ceramics, glassware and hand-forged
knives, chosen by chefs such as Jock Zonfrillo of GT’s
2018 Restaurant of the Year, Orana, and Josh Niland
of Saint Peter, GT’s current Best New Talent.
Haverick Meats kicked off Christmas early with
a whole ham, hot-smoked beef brisket, juniper-spiced
pork terrine, cured duck breast and more. These
were matched with Oiseau et Renard wines courtesy
of DRNKS and festive cocktails from Sydney soda
mavericks PS40. Guests got into the spirit over Fig-leaf
Spritzes made with Plantation Rum and Mancino
vermouth, and Basil Smashes with Vestal Vodka and
PS Bush Tonic. Huge thanks must also go to Young
Henrys for the beers, Newcastle’s Choux Pâtisserie
and Sweet Stone for the custom desserts, and Allie
Webb, Riedel, Santa Vittoria and Brickfields for their
support. Above all we’d like to extend our gratitude to
everyone who came in to say hello, buy things and
support these great producers and makers. ●
