using your palms, roll to elongate and
form a body tapering off slightly to make
the shoulder. Flatten with your palm and
smooth the edges down. Pick up and
place onto the cake as shown. Use a little
water to help stick and push into the cake
ensuring full contact. Do the same with
the other squirrel but place the body so
the shoulders are pointing down.

Step 22.
To make the front paws, roll a pea sized
piece of grey into a sausage. Flatten an
end then cut a thumb and three fingers
with the knife. Twiddle the fingers to
smooth. Make one for each squirrel.

Steps 23a & b.
To make an acorn, mix brown paste with
white to create a lighter brown. Roll a
small amount into a teardrop and insert
onto a cocktail stick. Airbrush lines with
brown then remove the cocktail stick.
Take a ball of brown paste, flatten the
middle and sit the acorn into the concave
disc pointy end up. Draw lines with the
dresden tool pulling the paste towards
the acorn and enclosing it in its shell.

Step 24.
Attach the acorn with water and place a
paw over the top joining onto the body.
Use the dresden tool to push into place
and smooth joins with the flat end of the
tool and a little water. Add a little sausage
of brown on top to create the stalk.

Step 25.
For the foot, roll a pea sized ball of paste
into a long teardrop and make two cuts
to create toes. Take a slightly larger ball
and again roll into a teardrop but this
time flatten slightly to create the back
haunches. Place the foot down first then
add the haunch on top.

Step 26.
Draw fur by pulling the pointy end of the
dresden tool along the curves of the body
and legs. Blend the joins with the back of
the dresden tool and a little water.

Step 27.
For the head, roll a golf ball sized piece
of grey paste into a teardrop. Fix on with
water and push into place applying slight
pressure. Using your little finger, run
along the top half of the head and push
into the cake more so it gives the illusion
of full cheeks and a sunken eye area.

Step 28.
Draw a mouth with the pointy end of the
dresden tool then the spoon end to open
the mouth. Use the pointy end to draw
a line where the eyes will go. Push the
spoon end up to create an eye.
