Step 29.Make a light grey by mixing more white 29 30a

into a pea sized ball of grey paste. Shape
into a teardrop and push into the eye
socket until flush. Recreate the socket with
the dresden tool and add a ball of black
paste in the socket. Create fur with the
pointy end of the dresden tool and make
a Y slit for the nose. Make ears with two
teardrops and attach by pushing the flat
end of the dresden tool into the bottom of
the ear. Add a tiny white spot in the eye.

Steps 30a & b.
Roll a ball of paste into a tapered sausage
and curl round to form a tail. Create fur
and go deeper when pulling the paste to
make it look more bushy.

Step 31.
Brush water behind the squirrel’s body and
sit the tail on the cake pushing gently into
place. Hold for 30 seconds as this is a little
heavier and we don’t want it to fall off.

Steps 32a & b.
The female squirrel is made in the exact
same way, however, use a lighter grey for
her head and tail and note the direction
of where to place her back foot.

Step 33.
Her tail is made slightly different. Roll a
long teardrop and leave the end quite
plump. Place onto the back of her body
and score fainter lines with the dresden
tool to create smoother looking fur.

Steps 34a-d.
Place the flowers, leaves, berries and
twigs onto the cake as you like. This is
fun because it goes from plain to fully
dressed in seconds and the early prep
work really sets the scene for the cake.
