Step 1.
To make the tree, group four wires
together and wrap an end of one around
the whole cluster to secure. Bend each
at the top to start to form the main
branches. If using cake, use a posy pick or
straw to push the wires into the corner of
the 6” cake.

Step 2.
Using brown sugarpaste or modelling
chocolate, make sausages to wrap
around the trunk travelling up the wires.
Wrapping around rather than pushing
on helps the sugarpaste stick and stay
secure.

Step 3.
As you get to the branches, twist the
sugarpaste around the wires until very
thin to form the very tips of the tree.

Step 4.
With the dresden tool, add marks to the
bark and branches to texture.

Step 5.
With the scissors, add tiny cuts to the
branches in random places. Add more
tiny sausages of sugarpaste in places to
give something to cut into and shape.

Step 6.
With your fingers, gently twist and shape
the sugarpaste at the cuts to make
smaller branches.

Step 7.
Using the stencils as a template, draw a
selection of leaves onto the wafer paper.
Cut out with either the scissors or craft
knife. There is no need to be too precise
as you’ll be airbrushing them.
