MATERIALS


 3-inch wooden half ball
Drill and drill bit
7- or 9-inch length of^3 ∕ 8 -inch-
diameter wooden dowel
1-inch wooden ball with^1 ∕ 2 -inch hole
Artists brushes
Acrylic paint: white, red, light green,
dark green
Transfer paper
Old ballpoint pen
1^1 ∕ 4 ×3-inch wooden rectangle
1^3 ∕ 8 ×2^3 ∕ 4 -inch wooden heart
Fine-tip permanent marking pen:
black or gold
Wood glue
Hot-glue gun and glue sticks
Decoupage medium (such as
Mod Podge brand)
Mica flakes
Crafts glue
Glitter: gold

Drill a^1 ∕ 2 -inch-diameter hole through
curved portion and about halfway into half
ball. Paint the half ball, dowel, and 1-inch
wooden ball white; let dry. Paint^1 ∕ 4 -inch
stripes on dowel using red; let dry.
Using transfer paper and a dried-up
ballpoint pen, trace the patterns in Pattern
Pack onto the wooden rectangle and heart.
Paint the words using red; let dry. Paint
the edges and back of rectangle red. Paint
front of heart light green; let dry. Paint the
arrow, edges, and back of heart dark green;
let dry. Outline the words and arrow using
a fi ne-tip black or gold permanent marking
pen if desired.
Push wood glue into hole in half ball and
insert dowel into hole. Push wood glue
into hole in 1-inch ball and push ball onto
end of dowel. Hot-glue rectangle and heart
to pole.
Brush decoupage medium onto half ball
and edges of the sign. Sprinkle with mica
fl akes and shake off excess. For a glittered
top ball, brush the 1-inch ball with crafts
glue and sprinkle with gold glitter.

MATERIALS


24 kraft paper jewelry boxes (ours
measure 2^1 ∕ 2 ×1^1 ∕ 2 ×1 inches)
Small number stencils (ours were
about 1 inch tall)
White fine-tip oil-base marking pen
White paper doilies
Glue stick
Candies or trinkets
Removable mounting squares


Using number stencils, mark numbers
1 through 24 on the box lids using a white
marking pen. Vary the placement of the
numbers as desired. Fill in some numbers, if
desired, using white marking pen.
Cut paper doilies into pieces to fi t the
box lids, wrapping some around the lid
edges. Adhere the doilies to the lids using
a glue stick.
Fill boxes with candies or trinkets.
Arrange and mount the boxes to wall or
surface using removable mounting squares.
