ORNAMENTS

Referring to photo, right, and
dashed placement lines on
patterns in Pattern Pack,
pin frosting to donut top
and the heart and coff ee to
coff ee cup top.
Donut: Using two strands of
red embroidery fl oss, stitch a running
stitch around edges of frosting to attach
to donut top. Using a beading needle and
white sewing thread, attach seed beads
randomly on frosting.
Coff ee Cup: Using two strands of white
fl oss, stitch a running stitch around coff ee
and heart edges and along base of coff ee
cup. Using a water-soluble marking pen and
referring to photo, write the word coff ee
on the coff ee cup. Stem-stitch the letters
using two strands of brown fl oss. Using red
sewing thread, blanket-stitch the handle
pieces together.

Fold tops of stocking front and stocking
back down 3½ inches to create a cuff on
each piece.
To make a tassel, cut a 5-inch length of
cotton piping cord. Starting at center of
cord and working in one direction, wrap
embroidery fl oss tightly around cord;
change colors as desired to make stripes.
Leave about 2 inches of each cord end
uncovered; fray one cord end. Repeat to
make another tassel. Stitch the unfrayed
ends of tassel cords under folded cuff on
stocking front.
Go to page 111 or BHG.com/HCStitches
to see stitch diagrams. Layer stocking front
and stocking back with cuff s on outside.
Using six strands of embroidery fl oss and
leaving top of stocking open, blanket-stitch
stocking body pieces together. Blanket-
stitch around sides and bottom of cuff on
front and back, leaving cuff bottom loose
from stocking body.

FINISH THE ORNAMENTS

Cut a 7-inch length of bakers twine for
each ornament. Fold each length in half;
glue ends inside top edge of an ornament.
Let dry.
Pin each ornament top to ornament
back. Insert cup handle ends between
the coff ee cup layers. Blanket-stitch each
ornament together, using tan sewing thread
for donut and red thread for coff ee cup
and leaving a small opening along an edge
for stuffi ng.
Using the eraser end of a pencil, push
polyester fi berfi ll into each ornament.
Blanket-stitch each opening closed.
