Pull the needle up at A and form a loop of
fl oss on the surface. Holding loop in place,
insert the needle into fabric at B, about(^1) ∕ 16 inch from A. Bring needle out at C and
cross it over the trailing fl oss, keeping the
fl oss fl at. Pull needle and trailing fl oss until
loop lies fl at against the fabric. Insert the
needle at D to secure.
WOVEN SPIDERWEB STITCH
Make fi ve straight stitches in a star shape.
Bring the needle up from the center and
use it to weave fl oss around the straight
stitches, alternating over and under, to fi ll
out the web.FLY STITCH
Pull the needle up at A and form a loop of
fl oss. Holding the loop in place, insert the
needle into the fabric at B and pull it up
again inside the loop at C. Insert the needle
at D to make a straight stitch that will hold
the loop in place.FISHBONE STITCH
Pull the needle up at A, insert it into the
fabric at B, and bring it up at C. Insert the
needle at D, covering the base of the fi rst
stitch. Bring needle up at E and insert it
into the fabric at F. Continue in the same
manner (as C–F), overlapping the base
of the previous stitch and making stitches
larger or smaller as needed, until the design
or shape is complete.STAR STITCH
Pull the needle up at A, insert it into the
fabric at B, and bring it up again at C. Insert
the needle at D to complete a cross-stitch.
Pull the needle up at E and insert it into
the fabric at F. Pull the needle up at G and
insert it into the fabric at H to complete a
smaller cross-stitch that crosses over the
fi rst cross-stitch as shown.BLANKET STITCH
Pull the needle up at A, form a reverse L
shape with the fl oss, and hold the angle
of the L shape in place with your thumb.
Insert the needle into the fabric at B and
come up at C to secure the stitch. Continue
