MATERIALS

12-inch-diameter straw wreath
with plastic covering
Yarn: cream and white
Hot-glue gun and glue sticks
Wool felt: red and green
Floral pick with red berries

WRAP THE STRAW WREATH

Do not remove covering from wreath.
Wrap plastic-covered wreath with cream
yarn, hot-gluing yarn ends to the back.

CUT THE FELT

Trace the diamond pattern in the Pattern

Pack onto white paper; cut out.

From red wool felt, cut:

 5—Diamonds

 1—2×12-inch strip

 1—1×2-inch strip

 2—1×6-inch strips

From green wool felt, cut:

 5—Diamonds

DECORATE THE WREATH

Arrange felt diamonds around the wreath,

alternating colors and spacing evenly. Hot-

glue diamond corners to the wreath.

Wrap white yarn around the wreath,

going through the center of each diamond

once; cut and glue yarn ends to wreath

back. Wrap white yarn around the wreath in

the opposite direction, going through each

diamond center again to make a crisscross

pattern with white yarn; cut and glue yarn

ends to wreath back.

ASSEMBLE BOW

Fold in each end of the 2×12-inch red wool

felt strip so ends meet in the strip center;

hot-glue in place. Pinch the center of the

strip, adding a few dots of glue to hold the

pinch in place. Wrap the 1×2-inch red wool

felt strip around the pinch; hot-glue ends

to back of bow. Glue one end of each 1×6-

inch strip to back of bow for the tails. Trim

ends as desired.

Referring to the photo, below, hot-glue a

fl oral pick and the bow to the wreath.

MATERIALS

Fusible web
16-inch square of red plaid fabric
Cream fabric: 17-inch square and
2—12×17-inch rectangles
17-inch square of tearaway stabilizer
Sewing thread: red and cream
16-inch square pillow form

Measurements include^1 ∕ 2 -inch seam
allowances. Sew with right sides together
unless otherwise stated.

PREPARE THE APPLIQUÉ

Enlarge reindeer pattern in Pattern Pack

onto white paper. Lay fusible web, paper

side up, over reindeer pattern. Use a pencil

to trace the pattern. Cut out fusible-web

shape roughly^1 ∕ 4 inch outside traced lines.

Following manufacturer’s instructions,

press fusible-web shape onto red plaid

fabric; let cool. Cut out shape on drawn

lines. Peel off paper backing. Fuse reindeer

appliqué centered on cream fabric square.

SEW THE PILLOW

Pin tearaway stabilizer to back of fused

cream fabric. Using red sewing thread,

machine-satin-stitch around all edges of the

reindeer to complete the pillow top.

Turn under one long edge of each

12×17-inch cream rectangle^1 ∕ 2 inch; press.

Turn under same edges^1 ∕ 2 inch again and

stitch close to each folded edge using

cream thread.

Overlap hemmed edges of pillow

back pieces 5 inches to make a 17-inch

square. Baste overlapped edges to make

pillow back.

Layer pillow top and pillow back with

right sides together. Stitch around all

outside edges. Turn right side out.

Insert pillow form through back opening.
