MATERIALS

2— 31 ∕ 2 -inch-tall wooden peg dolls:
1 male body, 1 female body
Acrylic paint: black, red, white, gray,
desired flesh color, cream, green
Toothpick
Artists brushes
Decoupage medium (such as Mod
Podge brand)
Fine-tip marking pen: black
Felt: red
Crafts glue
Hot-glue gun and glue sticks

PAINT GIRL ELF
Refer to photo, right, for all painting.
Using a toothpick and black paint, dot
the eyes on the female wooden peg doll.
Paint the doll body red; let dry. Paint a
small white heart in the center front of doll
body. Using gray, paint two arms that start
below sides of head and curve in toward
the heart. Paint a half-oval yoke using gray.
Let dry.
Paint a black checkerboard design on
the heart. Paint red stripes on the arms

and yoke. Paint half-circles for hands using

desired fl esh color. Let dry.

Using a pencil, sketch hair on head and

braids on the torso. Paint the hair and

braids cream. Let dry.

Apply a coat of decoupage medium to

all surfaces; let dry. Use a fi ne-tip black

marking pen to draw eyelashes at sides

of eyes.

PAINT BOY ELF

Using a toothpick and black paint, dot the

eyes on the male wooden peg doll. Paint

the body green; let dry. Paint the bottom

1 inch of the body gray. Paint a small white

heart in the center front of doll body. Using

gray, paint two arms that start below sides

of head and curve in toward the heart.

Paint a rectangular yoke using gray.

Paint a red checkerboard design on the

heart. Paint red stripes on the arms, yoke,

and gray area at bottom of doll; let dry.

Paint half-circles for hands using desired

fl esh color.

Using a pencil, sketch hair on head. Paint

the hair cream. Using green, paint a thin

vertical leg stripe through the gray area at

bottom of doll. Let dry.

Apply a coat of decoupage medium to all

surfaces; let dry.

ADD HATS

Trace the hat pattern in the Pattern Pack

onto white paper; cut out. Trace pattern

twice onto red felt; cut out. Run a bead

of crafts glue along one straight edge and

shape each hat into a cone; let dry. Hot-

glue a hat to each doll head.
