MATERIALS


2^1 ∕ 4 -inch round plastic ball ornament
Hot-glue gun and glue sticks
Eye protection
Acrylic paint: white
Small artists brush
Crafts glue
Glitter: green and gold
3-millimeter pearl beads: light green
1-inch-tall pink bottle-brush tree
Decorative bead
Two to three pieces of assorted mini
artificial greenery
Metallic-pink chenille pipe cleaner


CUT THE ORNAMENT


Remove hanger from top of ornament. Dab
hot glue inside hanger. Place hanger back
on ornament.
Draw a circle around one side of
ornament, starting about^1 ∕ 2 inch in front of
ornament hanger. Note: Some ornaments
have a center seam you can use as a guide;
the ornament will not hang properly if cut
exactly in half.
Wearing protective eye wear and using
scissors with a sharp point, poke a hole into
the ornament on the drawn line. Carefully
cut along the line and remove the cutout.

PAINT THE ORNAMENT


Brush white acrylic paint inside the
ornament; let dry. Brush crafts glue inside
ornament and sprinkle green glitter onto
wet glue; let dry.
Hot-glue pearl beads onto bottle-brush
tree. Hot-glue a decorative bead to top of
tree. Hot-glue tree inside ornament.

Cut mini artifi cial greenery to fi t behind
tree. Brush greenery with crafts glue and
sprinkle with green glitter; let dry. Glue
greenery behind tree.
Cut artifi cial greenery to fi t in front of
tree. Brush greenery with crafts glue and
sprinkle with gold glitter; let dry. Glue
greenery in front of tree.
Hot-glue a pipe cleaner around ornament
opening. Trim off extra pipe cleaner.

MATERIALS


^1 ∕ 8 -inch-wide quilling paper: white
Quilling tool (needle tool or
slotted tool)
Toothpick
Crafts glue
Spray adhesive
Fine clear glitter
Pearl bead
Embroidery floss
Embroidery needle


MAKE THE SNOWFLAKE


Make each snowfl ake part the number of
times indicated.

Tight Coil: Cut a 17-inch strip of
quilling paper. Using the quilling tool or
a toothpick, tightly coil the strip to make
a coil about^1 ∕ 4 inch in diameter. Remove
the coil from the tool, holding the shape
together. Glue the strip ends to the coil.
Make one tight coil (for snowfl ake center).

Teardrop: Cut an 8-inch strip of quilling
paper and make a tight coil. Pull the center
of coil to one inside edge; glue in place
using a toothpick and a dab of crafts glue.
Pinch the coil into a 1-inch-long teardrop
shape. Make 12 teardrops.

Open Coil: Cut a 5-inch strip of quilling
paper. Using the quilling tool or a
toothpick, tightly coil the strip. Remove
the coil from the tool, holding the shape

together. Let coil loosen slightly until it’s
about^3 ∕ 8 inch in diameter. Glue strip ends
to coil. Make six open coils.

Loop: Cut a 2-inch strip of quilling paper.
Fold the strip in half, pinching the ends
together to form a fl attened loop; glue
loose ends. Make 12 loops.

FINISH THE ORNAMENT


Referring to photo, left, arrange the
teardrops, open coils, and loops around the
center tight coil; glue together shapes and
let dry.
Spray ornament with adhesive. Sprinkle
glitter onto ornament and shake off excess.
Glue pearl bead to snowfl ake center.
Thread a short length of embroidery fl oss
through an outer teardrop; knot ends for a
hanging loop.
