Occasionally, there is a document that simply cannot be processed by textual ETL
without being first processed by a preprocessor. In cases like this, a preprocessor comes
in handy.


After ETL processing, it is possible to postprocess a document. The functions
accomplished in postprocessing are seen in Fig. 10.1.25.

On occasion, an index entry needs to be edited before it is clean. Or data need to be
merged before they are in the form the end user expects.


These are all typical activities that can occur in postprocessing.
