In Fig. 12.1.13, it is seen that the integration of data occurs as data are placed in an
integrated, historical fashion in the data warehouse. Once the foundation of data is built,
the data are passed into the different data marts. As data are passed into the data marts,
data are summarized or otherwise aggregated.

The Operational Data Store—ODS

There is another data structure that sometimes appears in data architecture, and that
structure is one known as the ODS, or “operational data store.”
