European countries, for example, choose public provision of daycare
services, while in the United States these services are almost always
private.


A judicial system could be provided privately, with the judges levying
charges to plaintiffs and defendants in order to hear their cases. But most
people believe that for reasons of fairness and objectivity it is better for
the government to provide the judicial system, financed by money raised
through general taxation.
