B-Grip Uno
££ 366 , $ 55

This little gadget enables you to
hang your Nikon from a regular
backpack or shoulder bag strap.
A pair of nuts and a U-bolt attach
it easily and securely to either,
while the Uno’s elongated shape
means your camera hangs
straight down without the lens
digging into your body. It can
also be mounted to a belt using
an additional clamping bracket,
and it ’s just as comfor table
there, providing you stick to a
lightweight CSC or D-SLR, as
anything heavier will literally
drag you down.
Despite being predominantly
plastic, the Uno is built to last,
and it includes an Arca-Swiss-
compatible quick release plate.
This can be double-locked to the
holster body, but even without
this safety precaution, the
release mechanism is fiddlier
than on the Capture Clip or
Spider Pro systems.
Pros^ Comfy to wear, whether it’s
mounted to a belt or bag strap.
Cons^ The camera release
mechanism could be slightly
slicker and less fiddly.
We say^ It’s not perfect, but at
this price the Uno is nevertheless
a genuine bargain.
Overall score^
Pros^ It’s light and compact,
yet well-built and easy to use.
Cons^ Pricey compared to the
B-Grip, and not as comfortable.
We say^ For casual use, the
convenient and simple Capture
Clip is a winner.
Overall score^

Capture Pro
Camera Clip
££ 600 , $ 80

Like the B-Grip, this clip fastens
your camera to a belt or bag
strap. Its mounting system
consists of t wo plates clamped
together with a pair of nuts. The
aluminium construction exudes
quality, yet Peak Design has kept
the clip light by machining away
any unnecessary material.
An Arca-Swiss mounting plate
means you’ll have no trouble
switching between the clip and
a compatible tripod head, and it
slips effortlessly into the holster
section. A but ton then releases
your camera, and while this
doesn’t offer much security, it’s
certainly a fumble-free system.
The Capture Clip is great for
carrying a light D-SLR, but a
bigger one will make your jeans
feel like they’re about to reveal all!
Holster
your SLR
Don’t miss shots because your
camera’s out of reach: keep it
handy and ready for action
with a camera clip or holster
onventional camera bags are great, but there
isn’t much point in lugging a big backpack or
shoulder bag around if you’ve pared your gear
down to a single body and lens. Here a holster
bag is just the ticket, providing snug storage
for just such a set-up, while offering better
protection than a sling or neck strap.
Holster bags usually come with a carrying strap, but to
really lift a weight off your shoulders try mounting one to
your belt instead. That’ll work a treat if you’ve got a fairly
light camera, although heavier kit will give your jeans a
sinking feeling that’s far from comfortable. Thankfully
many manufacturers offer dedicated photo belts that
not only increase comfort, but are also designed to
carry multiple accessories.
However, if you’d rather travel even lighter, then go for
a camera clip instead. These simple devices attach to a
backpack or shoulder bag strap in seconds, and give you
fast and hassle-free camera access via a quick-release
mounting plate. Here’s our round-up of five of the best...
