FOXBOROUGH — Eric Do
strolled out of the Patriots Pro-
Shop Thursday afternoon with
two new hoodies to add to his
growing collection of team mer-
chandise.
Do, a longtime fan from
Holden, would have to come
back to claim his third pur-
chase of the day because it re-
quired a bit of extra work. For
jerseys not readily available in
the ProShop, visitors can order
a customized version with the
requested name and corre-
sponding number. The produc-
tion process takes about an
hour but allows customers to
pay $99.99 — the same price as
jerseys hanging on the racks in-
store — and rep any player, past
or present.
So, whose jersey was Do
waiting on?
He leaned back and paused.
“Antonio Brown,” he replied
sheepishly.
Despite the sexual assault
and rape allegations against the
31-year-old wideout in a recent
lawsuit, the reason Brown’s jer-
sey is not on display at the Pro-
Shopdoesn’tappeartobeany-
thing unique to his situation.
The in-store quantities have to
sell, so only the players in high-
est demand — Tom Brady, Ju-
lian Edelman, Sony Michel,
among others — are featured
on-site. The Patriots said they
do not disclose information on
the jersey sales for any player,
but if the market proves to be
strong enough, Brown’s jerseys
presumably will soon be along-
side the likes of Brady and Edel-
man.
The ProShop declined to
comment, although both the
ProShop Collection and Olym-
pia Sports at Patriot Place said
they expect to receive ship-
ments of Brown merchandise
in the coming week. Brown’s
jerseys are already advertised in
the online store, as are jerseys
for 46 members of the current
roster.
After walking around Patriot
Place for 45 minutes, including
astopattheTB12SportsTher-
apy Center to buy a black TB12
hat, Do returned to the Pro-
Shop and picked up his white
No. 17 jersey with “Brown”
printed atop the back.
Brown, who has sported No.
84 throughout his entire career,
said in an Instagram video post-
ed Thursday that he chose No.
17 in honor of his father, Eddie,
a prolific offensive specialist in
the AFL. (Veteran tight end Ben
Watson, making his second
stint with the Patriots, had al-
ready chosen No. 84 when
Brown was acquired last week.)
“You know my dad always
inspired me,” Brown said in the
58-second clip that spliced to-
gether highlights from his Pa-
triots debut with footage from
his dad’s career. “No. 17, you
know, I’ve seen that guy make a
lot of touchdowns. He dedicat-
ed his life, sacrificed his life.
“We got so much similari-
ties, our charisma, the way we
approach the field. Seeing me
and seeing my dad is like seeing
two identical guys. It’s kind of
rare. It’s like seeing your son,
but he looks more so like your
brother, our mannerisms, the
way we approach the game, the
way we make people feel.”
Brown’s No. 17 is Do’s fourth
Patriots jersey, as he already
owns Brady’s No. 12, Edelman’s
No. 11, and retired tight end
Rob Gronkowski’s No. 87. Do
noted he had no second
thoughts about his latest pur-
chase.
“It’s a must-have,” Do said.
“I’m worried more about play-
ing the game.”
Other ProShop visitors
Thursday seemed to be in
agreement.
“A man’s innocent until he’s
proven guilty,” said Jamie An-
natts, who will be attending his
first Patriots game Sunday.
“That’s the way I look at it. He’s
not the first [athlete] or NFL
player to be accused of such
things. Until he has his day in
court, if it goes there, I’m happy
to support him.”
“The allegations don’t both-
ermeuntilthefactsactually
come out,” echoed Richard
Hardmon of Rehoboth. “I don’t
like to act based on something
that could have happened, rath-
er than know what all the facts
are and then make my judg-
ment.”
Some seemed wary, with the
hesitation primarily stemming
from the possibility that Brown
might not be on the roster in
the near future. Brown has de-
nied the accusations via his
agent Drew Rosenhaus and le-
gal team, while the NFL has
launched an investigation,
which included a 10-hour inter-
view with Brown’s accuser
Monday.
“There’s just the risk that he
won’t be playing,” said Gregg
Flynn.
For now, all signs point to
Brown being active Sunday
against the Jets. Speaking to
the media for the first time
since arriving in New England,
Brown said he’s looking for-
ward to experiencing the home
crowd at Gillette Stadium.
Surely, there will be some
No. 17s joining Do in stands.
he said. “I’m just here to focus
on ball and look forward to get
out there in the home stadium
with the team.’’
Brown appears on track to
do just that Sunday when the
Patriots host the Jets at 1 p.m.
The receiver signed with the
Patriots Sept. 9, one day before
news of Taylor’s lawsuit came
out.
He made his Patriots debut
last Sunday, catching four pass-
es for 56 yards and a touch-
down from Brady. The two have
spent extra time working to-
gether and that was evident at
Thursday’s practice.

Continued from Page C1
During the window in which
media was allowed to watch,
Brady took time out from the
stretching period to have a brief
one-on-one tutorial with
Brown. Brady was animated as
he used his arms to direct how
he preferred a certain route run
and also acted as a defensive
back, backpedaling as he direct-
ed Brown which direction to
run.
“It’s been a tremendous hon-
or [working with Brady],’’
Brown said. “He’s been here a
long time, a lot of details, a lot
of work ethic. Great guy to be
around just to inspire everyone
here.’’
It appears Brown has
bought into the Patriots team-
first mantra. When he was
asked what the process has
been like getting up to speed in
New England with everything
else that has been going on his
life, he again stuck to football.
“Well, it’s football,’’ he said.
“I’m grateful to play football.
Every time you walk in the
doors here, you do your best for
the team. So, every time I walk
in here, I just want to make
sure I’m preparing to give these
guys my best.’’

FOXBOROUGH — A month
into his return to New England
and a year after he arrived from
Cleveland,
Josh Gordon
said Thursday
he “feels like
I’m back home.’’
Just minutes beforeAntonio
Brownspoke to the media for
the first time since joining the
Patriots, fellow receiver Gordon
chatted with reporters just a
few feet away.
“It’s a home environment —
a family environment — I love
these guys,’’ said Gordon. “They
corralled around me to support
me and show me love and I ap-
preciate that each and every
day that I’m here. It’s just easy
to come in and do what I have
to do.’’
Gordon made his Patriots
debut in Week 4 last season
and acknowledged it’s been an
easier transition into this sea-
son after the league reinstated
him from an indefinite suspen-
sion Aug. 16. Keeping his head
in the playbook helped keep
him involved.
“Last year was kind of on
the fly,’’ he said. “I got traded
[two weeks] into the season. I
had to pick up [the offense] as I
was going along. And the injury
at the same time, it was a lot to
take on. This year, I have more
familiarity with it. I got extra
time in the offseason to study
what I already knew and then
when I got in here I was able to
kind of pick up where I left off
— or even better, I would say.
So, it’s pretty smooth right
now.’’
Gordon has five catches for
92 yards and a touchdown
through two weeks.
“Josh has worked hard and
he’s made progress,’’Bill
Belichicksaid this week. “I
think he still has a long way to
go. We have 14 regular-season
games left, so we’ll see how it
goes.’’
Jets coachAdam Gasesaid
this week he thought Gordon
“looks big to me, in a good way.
He looks like he’s in really good
shape.’’
Gordon said Thursday he
didn’t try to get bigger, it “just
happened’’ while training in
the offseason.
“I’ve always been big. In
pads, you’re going to look big-
ger,’’ he said. “More important-
ly, it’s about how fast I can get
away.’’
Looking good
Tom Bradydid some quick
high-stepping and light jogging
and didn’t look remotely un-
comfortable during the win-
dow when media were allowed
to watch Thursday’s practice.
Brady was listed as limited on
the practice/participation re-
port for the second straight day,
but by the looks of things he
will be under center Sunday,
where he’s set to face the Jets
for the 34th time as a starter.
He’s 27-6 against them...At-
tendance at practice was the
same as Wednesday as fullback
James Develin(neck) and out-
side linebackerShilique Cal-
houn(not injury related) were
absent... Right tackleMarcus
Cannon(shoulder), tight end
Matt LaCosse(ankle), and of-
fensive linemanCaleb
Benenoch(calf) were limited
...FortheJets,defensive
standoutsQuinnen Williams

as well as receiverDemaryius

not participate in practice, cast-
ing doubt on their availability
for Sunday.
