NEW RuPaul’s Drag
Race UK
From Thursday 3 October,
BBC3 Online, from 8pm
Drag performer RuPaul brings hit
reality contest RuPaul’s Drag Race to
the UK. The show sets out to crown
one of the country’s top drag artists
as the Queen of Great Britain.
Each week, the 10 contestants will
compete in various challenges such
as make-up design or preparing
a runway look. They will also
each choose a famous person to
impersonate on a spoof version
of Blankety Blank. Joining RuPaul
and TV partner Michelle Visage
on the judging panel are various
celebrity guest judges including
Maisie Williams, Geri Horner, Cheryl,
Graham Norton and Alan Carr.
Instinct
Monday, Sky Witness HD, 9pm
Billions and Succession’s Eric Bogosian guests
as Harry Kassabian, Dylan Reinhart’s new
book editor. Meanwhile, Dylan (Alan Cumming)
and Lizzie (Bojana Novakovic) investigate
when a body is found in the middle of a street
artist’s work and Ryan (Travis Van Winkle) gets
a break in the Sleeping Beauty Killer case.
NEW Hotel Beau Séjour
Sunday, C4 HD, 11pm
There’s a twist to this whodunit from Belgium.
Kato Hoeven (Lynn Van Royen) awakes in a
hotel to find her own corpse in a bathtub. With
only a few people able to see and communicate
with her, she has no option but to solve her
own murder. The entire series will be available
as a box set on All 4 after the first episode airs.
NEW Plebs
Monday, ITV2 HD, 10pm & 10.30pm
The BAFTA-nominated ancient Rome-set
comedy returns for a fifth series, beginning
with a double bill, and more adventures for
Marcus (Tom Rosenthal), his lazy slave
Grumio (Ryan Sampson) and Jason (Jonathan
Pointing). Among the guest stars this series
are Amanda Holden as a high-society lady
and John Thomson (left) as a PE teacher.
What can you tell us about this
week’s task? We start off with
the most unbelievable task in
South Africa. My group has to
organise a vineyard tour, which
includes a trip to a wine cellar,
but they couldn’t find it. We have
the farce of the candidates going
around trying to find the cellar,
with all the people who’d paid for
the tour wandering around with
them. Typically a wine cellar is
downstairs, but that doesn’t dawn
on the candidates, it seems.
Did Karren’s group fare any
better? Karren’s group has to
organise a safari tour, and one
of the candidates points out an
elephant... except it’s a rhino!
Are there any tasks that you
would struggle with? In the
task where they have to find nine
items, sometimes I haven’t got a
clue – I know if I was doing it,
I’d fail. I look forward to every
task, to be honest. You see the
same mistakes year after year,
but sometimes I’m amazed at
how clever some of them are.
Do you have a favourite round?
For me, it’s the interview – it’s the
business end of The Apprentice
and shows the true colour of the
candidates. We want to make sure
Alan has all the information he
needs to make his decision. This
year is going to be superb. The
content is very, very watchable.
