While most Samsung phones are manufactured
in Vietnam, India, Indonesia and the brand’s
home of Korea, almost all of Apple’s assembly
line is in China, leaving the firm with much more
to lose from the tariffs.


WHAT THE TRADE WAR COULD MEAN
FOR THE MARKET’S FUTURE


It was at the start of August that Trump
unveiled plans to place a 10% tariff on
$300 billion of Chinese goods, including
smartphones and other electronics. The tariff
won’t come into effect for those two particular
categories until December 15; however, as it
will clearly be applicable to Chinese-brand
devices as well, it remains to be seen whether
it could seriously affect the prices of those
devices in America and as a result, dent their
appeal to American consumers.
