Sculpt a character for 3D printing

Sculpt a character

for 3D printing

Making amazing sculpts is half the battle, but what

if you want to get your designs onto your desk?

Z

Brush has long been
seen as a powerhouse
in the digital sculpting
community. In recent releases
Pixologic has added import and
export features and a whole raft
of tools to enable artists to create
3D print-ready models. Because
you don’t have to use third-party
software to hollow out and check
the integrity of your model, you
can easily prevent any issues
that might arise once you send

your files to the 3D print bureau.
ZBrush even helps you create
full-colour VRML files that enable
you to send a model directly to a
colour 3D printer like the Stratasys
J750. More and more designers
are now able to get their hands
on affordable desktop 3D printers
with amazing finish quality.
In this tutorial I will explore how
to sculpt a basic character, add
some weapons and accessories,
split the model down for print

I tried to capture a dynamic
pose that would be stable as
a 3D print on the stand

and add Keys (the parts that
lock the model together). I will
demonstrate how to export the
model in parts and then import it
into Formlabs PreForm to make it
ready for print.
