olonel Legha has made a notable
contribution in different aspects of
operations like human relations across
myriad ethnic groups, general administration,
purchase, cost-cutting, transport, logistics and
management of projects in his career. With
his vast experience in defense and corporate
sectors, he has developed the skills necessary
for team management to ensure optimum yield
as per an organisation’s expectations. His roles
at corporate companies have made him an expert in ofÀce renovation
and infrastructure related activities.
“When strategically integrated into operations, sustainability can offer
signiÀcant business beneÀt s. We , a t 1,,7, launched our ¶(nvironment
Sustainability’ policy two years ago to strengthen our commitment to
sustainability,” he says.
Since then, the company has implemented new methods of energy
conservation and waste management — construction of an environment
friendly L((' certiÀed campus, solar architectural design, double gla]ed
units with reÁective glass and insulation on external walls, external lighting
using solar power, systems for recycling organic waste, recycling water for
non-drinking purposes, energy efÀcient eTuipment for air conditioning,
rain water harvesting, tree plantation, using L(' as replacement of &)L
mercury bulbs, solar power generation, to name a few.

designs. Singh believes that
performance must encompass
both design and operations. He
says, “Sustainability is relatively
easier to achieve, since it is advised at inception. 7 his
also ensures that all employees take it as a moral
responsibility to update their regular feedbacks to the
facility team. Skill development, performance recognition
and occupant support helps tremendously in the all-
round focus.”

business needs and the industry they cater to. 7 hey also
need to create backup plans for emergencies, monitor
budgets, run cost-saving initiatives, upgrade standards as
per emerging technology, and deliver user-friendly and
efÀcient workspaces.
“,n our own ofÀces in ,ndia, we have applied best
practices that favour the ofÀce space in a multi-tenanted
scenario. With regard to energy cost-cutting, we have
targeted the air conditioning and electricity usage. We
recommend not using artiÀcial lighting during the day.
As an operational practice, we raise the blinds in the
morning, permitting sufÀcient natural light to brighten
up the workstations. We have also changed over to low-
energy power savers,” elaborates Singh.
