A business is a going concern and in today’s modern India,
which is home to almost all the ofÀces of global and Indian
MNCs, the business continuity is extremely critical, and
¶future creator’, both locally and globally. Like the ¶butterÁy
effect’, it is intended to make much larger impacts, in the
affairs of the world and its inhabitants.
It is widely recognised, that the brains behind these
workspaces – be it the architects, designers, facility heads,
projects managers, consultants – have not been thanked often
and enough. Managing men, materials and money, and aiming
for the most optimised results, often with an intention to
improve and innovate every year, with increasing commercial
pressures, planning for unpredictable events (especially since
India now is affected by global cues), and doing all this in the
land of chaos that is India, is not just commendable, but needs
to be given a medal. It is like winning an everyday battle and
still keeping the gunpowder dry.
I have interacted with a lot of professionals from these
verticals and have extremely high respect for them. They
juggle so many roles and so many responsibilities – from
communication; emergency preparedness and business
continuity; Ànance and business; operations and maintenance;
design and execution; project management; with full aim at
doing so with the highest possible quality; optimising the use
and cost of real estate and property management. They do so
keeping abreast and remaining open to the latest technology and
increasing focus on environmental stewardship and sustainability.
And the Ànal bottom-line remains not just money but the
comfort of their colleagues – their safety, security, ergonomic
comfort, health, ensuring that the work gets done.
I guess when a new age worker walks into his workspace,
he takes all that exists for granted. Like a movie watcher never
realising the sweat and toil that goes through while making it. I
wish they remember to thank the Facility team!
We need to acknowledge, identify, and celebrate this
industry, archive the best practices in the land of innovation,
and share it for the larger good. This issue is an ode to the
galaxy of supreme biggies in these domains.
