DIAMOND PATTERN
The next section makes a
diamond by turning a square of
four (3ch, 3tr) blocks, made over
two rows. The first uses two
colours to make blocks.
Where appropriate, crochet over
yarn not in use, or strand loosely
behind work.
Rnd 11: Start with yarn A at
top of any peak, 3ch, working
from R to L, 1tr in each of next
3 htr. (First block made.) Pull yarn
loop up so work will not unravel,
remove hook.
Attach yarn B with sl st at base of
third tr of yarn A just made, 1tr in
corner of chevron valley (ie in top
of tr3tog), 1tr in next st (ie in top
of htr2tog) 1tr in each of next 2
htr. (Second block made.)
Pick up loop of yarn A from first
block and work 1dc in yarn A in
top of last tr worked in yarn B,
pulling yarns tight.
Cont with yarn A, 3ch, 3tr
around stem of last tr worked in
yarn B from previous block.
Strand yarn B loosely behind and
catch at back of centre tr st of
next peak with 1dc using yarn A.
(Third block made.) Rep from
around.
Break off yarn B leaving 20cm/8in
tail for sewing in.
Rnd 12: Start from peak of
previous chevron round. 3sl sts
in 3ch-sp of first yarn A block, 3tr
in 3ch-sp of second yarn A block,
3ch, 4 sl st to top of 3 ch from

from hook and in each ch to end,
turn.

(When folded the seam will be
hidden from view).
With right sides together, pin
roll neck evenly to neckline and
stretching slightly, loosely attach
on WS with dc join through
both long edge of roll neck
and capelet.
