JI has announced the Osmo Mobile
3, a foldable mobile phone stabiliser.
DJI states that the stabiliser can quickly
unfold and has 15 hours of battery life.

The Osmo Mobile 3 has buttons located
conveniently on the handle to allow one-
handed operation. Quick Roll rotates the
orientation from portrait to landscape
by pressing the Mode (M) button twice
without the need to remove the mobile
device. The redesigned form no longer
obstructs the charging and audio ports.

A trigger helps manoeuvre the gimbal by
locking orientation, rotating the gimbal
for selfies and even re-centering when
tracking a subject. By using ActiveTrack,
users can tap the trigger once to begin
tracking while keeping the subject
centred within the frame. Users can zoom
in and out with the dedicated zoom slider
on the side of the stabiliser.

Osmo Mobile 3 is available in two
packages starting at USD 119 for the
standard version which includes Osmo
Mobile 3, a wrist strap, storage pouch
and anti-slip pads and USD 139 for the
Osmo Mobile 3 combo which includes the
components of the standard version along
with the Osmo Grip Tripod and the Osmo
Carrying Case. It’s available in the US and
will be available worldwide soon.

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

S

amsung has revealed the 108 MP
ISOCELL Bright HMX, the first
mobile image sensor in the industry to
go beyond 100 million pixels. With the
latest addition, Samsung will expand its
0.8μm image sensor offerings from its
recently announced ultra-high 64 MP to
108 MP, a resolution equivalent to that
of a high-end D-SLR camera. Samsung
ISOCELL Bright HMX is the result of close
collaboration between Xiaomi Corp. and
Samsung.

Being the first mobile image sensor to
adopt a large 1/1.33-inch size, the HMX
can absorb more light in low-lit settings
than smaller sensors and its pixel-

merging Tetracell technology allows
the sensor to imitate big-pixel sensors,
producing brighter 27 MP images. In
bright environments, the Smart-ISO,

a mechanism that intelligently selects
the level of amplifier gains according
to the illumination of the environment
for optimal light-to-electric signal
conversion, switches to a low ISO to
improve pixel saturation and produce
vivid photographs. The mechanism
uses a high ISO in darker settings that
helps reduce noise, resulting in clearer
pictures. For advanced filming, the HMX
supports video recording without losses
in field-of-view at resolutions up to 6K
(6016 x 3384) 30-frames-per-second
(fps).

Mass production for Samsung ISOCELL
Bright HMX will begin by late August.
