Hemp seeds are legal as food in Australia and, while they won’t make you high, they are incredibly nutritious.
They are a great source of protein and contain a good balance of omega-6 and omega-3 fats, as well as
vitamins and minerals. On top of their nutritional potency, hemp seeds have a creamy texture and a mild
nutty taste that make them incredibly versatile in the kitchen. These hemp seed recipes will have your body
and taste buds singing: Overnight Chia, Hemp & Carrot Cake Brekky Bowl; Hemp & Quinoa Bites; Hemp &
Kale Nuggets with Cucumber Hummus; Cacao Hemp Balls; Peanut Butter Hemp Smoothie; Hemp Granola
with Berries; and Strawberry, Orange & Hemp Seed Jam.

Hemp & Mushroom Risotto

This is an interesting way to use hemp. It has
a clean and creamy texture and flavour.
Serves: 4

1 onion, finely diced
2 cloves garlic
8 medium mushrooms,
sliced
2 sticks celery, finely
diced
2 cups hemp seeds

6 cups liquid vegan
Massel Chicken
Style stock
1 bunch flat-leaf
parsley, chopped
½ cup nutritional yeast
Salt & pepper to taste

Heat frying pan over medium heat.
Add onion, garlic, mushrooms and celery and
sauté until soft.
Add hemp seeds and stock. Mix well and cook
until stock is mostly absorbed and resembles wet
risotto. Add parsley, nutritional yeast and season
with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve in bowl.

Hemp Granola with Berries

I always have a jar of my hemp granola in the pantry and a freezer full of mixed
berries. It then becomes super easy to throw them in a bowl and top with your
favourite plant-based milk.
Serves: 4

Hemp Granola
1 cup hemp seeds
800g raw muesli
3 cups apple purée
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tbsp maple syrup

4 cups fresh mixed berries
4 cups Bonsoy soy milk

Preheat oven to 180°C. Line 2 baking
trays with greaseproof paper.
Place granola ingredients in large
bowl and mix well. Spread mixture
evenly over both trays. Place trays in
oven and cook for 10–15 mins.
Remove trays from oven. Give

mixture on each tray a good stir, then
return to oven and cook for further
10–15 mins until golden to dark brown.
Remove from oven and set aside to
cool. Once cool, place in airtight jar.
To serve, place hemp granola in bowl,
top with mixed berries and soy milk.

ovenandcookfor10–15mins.
Removetraysfromoven.Give

mixtureoneachtraya goodstir,then
returntoovenandcookforfurther
10–15minsuntilgoldentodarkbrown.
Removefromovenandsetasideto
cool.Oncecool,placeinairtightjar.
Toserve,placehempgranolainbowl,
topwithmixedberriesandsoymilk.
