how we tested:
We narrowed it down to
22 disposable styles, then
logged over 1, 400 data
points in the Lab. Here’s
what we looked at:

  • Absorbency

  • Surface dryness

  • Softness

  • Construction

S Above all, diapers are meant to
keep babies dry, and Huggies
soaked up liquid best in our pros’
absorbency tests. Consumers
liked their above-average softness
and fit — one credited the elastic
waist with preventing a total mess!

In our Textiles Lab evaluations,
these absorbed liquid quickly in
different positions and had the
least runoff of our picks when held
at a 45-degree angle (babies don’t
always go standing up). Testers
raved about how soft they felt.

Pampers’ core was best at holding
on to liquid in tests, so you can
rest assured that the surface will
stay dry even if you can’t change
your child right away. We also like
that unlike most others, the brand
posts its full ingredient list online.

Our experts were blown away
at how well these performed for
the price. They had one of the
fastest absorbency speeds, soaking
up all the liquid we poured on in
seconds. Parents said the wetness
indicator was super-convenient too.

  • Tops in absorbency whether
    wetting occurred gradually
    or all at once.

  • Lightest of the four picks.

  • Has a wetness indicator and
    elastic at the waist.

    • Absorbent in multiple positions,
      even at an angle.

    • Rated soft in consumer tests.

    • Made without lotions
      or fragrances.

      • The absorbent core didn’t leak
        under pressure in evaluations.

      • Soft, lightweight construction
        with an easy-to-identify front.

      • Includes a wetness indicator.

        • Absorbed fluid well in all our
          Textiles Lab tests.

        • Includes a wetness indicator.

        • One of the lowest-priced
          options we looked at.

  • No front and back labeling.

  • One tester said the dark
    Mickey Mouse print was
    visible through some clothing.

    • Only sizes Newborn through
      2 have a wetness indicator.

    • The front and back are hard to
      distinguish; there are no labels
      or differentiating features.

      • Our experts found these less
        absorbent than others when
        held at an angle.

      • Waistband isn’t as stretchy as
        on diapers with built-in elastic.

        • Not rated as soft by our
          consumer tester panel.

        • Available to buy only at
          Aldi retail locations.
