BEAUTY SLEEP
Having trouble getting enough zzzzs? A recent study
from The University of Texas at Austin found that
having a bath 90 minutes before bedtime improved
the overall quality of slumber and the time it takes
to fall asleep. Turns out a warm soak stimulates our
body’s thermoregulatory system, which is involved
in determining the natural sleep cycle.

COLLAGEN CALLING
Collagen, the body’s most abundant
protein, also happens to be included in some
of this year’s most popular health foods. The
potential benefits of the supplement? Stronger
bones, joint pain relief and improved heart and skin
health. Thanks to this boom you can increase your
collagen intake with a variety of products from snack
bars to coffee creamers to bottled water.

SPICE IT UP

Saffron, the orange-yellow spice that
lends golden colour and aromatic flavour
to dishes like paella, biryani and European
baked goods, has some uses outside the
kitchen, too. The dried stigmas of this
prized ingredient are used in beauty
products and boast skin-brightening,
anti-inflammatory and anti-aging
benefits. Thankfully, with the spice’s price
point (worth more per pound than gold!)
a little goes a long way.
