Barbara Louise Brown, 90, of West
Yarmouth, Massachusetts, died Sep-
tember 7, 2019, surrounded by family.
Barbara was born in Detroit, Michigan,
the daughter of late Mary and Edward
Wagner.
Barbara was a graduate of Katherine
Gibbs School. She married James H.
Brown on August 30, 1952, in Woburn,
Massachusetts. They moved to Cape
Cod in 1959 where they raised their
three children. Barbaraworkedforover
20 years at the Teamsters Local 25 Pen-
sion Fund in Boston.
In her retirement years, Barbara
enjoyed remaining active with tennis,
water aerobics, cultural events and
yoga, travelling the United States and
Europe and cheering for her beloved
New England sports teams. Above all,
she enjoyed spending time with her
family and friends.
She was a longtime communicant
of St. Pius X Church and was devoted
to her faith. Barbara will be fondly
remembered as a loving wife, mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother, sister
and friend.
Barbara is survived by her sister,
Mary Ellen Bowe; daughter and son-
in-law, Karen and Thomas Prieto; son,
Kevin Brown; son and daughter-in-law,
Keith and Sue Brown; grandchildren,
James Prieto, Megan & (Matthew) Gio-
kas, Madelyn, Samantha and Natalie
Brown and great-grandchildren, Henry
and Grant Giokas. She was predeceased
by her husband, James H. Brown in
2001.
A Funeral Service will be held on
Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at
11:00 AM, in St. Pius X Church, Station
Ave., South Yarmouth, MA. A private
family burial will be held at a later date.

Age 72, passed away peacefully at home
on September 8, 2019, after a long
and courageous battle with cancer.
Daughter of the late William “Bill” and
Harriet (Hoar) Donahue. Survived by
her husband John “Jack” Porter and
sisters Maureen Stone of Chicopee, MA
and Joanne Hopkinson of Dunedin, FL.
Also sister-in-law to Catherine “Cathy”
(Porter) Devlin, William “Bill” and
Linda Porter, James “Jim” and Nancy
Porter. Kathy was also survived by
many nieces, nephews and wonderful
friends. Kathy worked 50 years for her
dear friends Thomas and Diana Ryan.
Kathy enjoyed watching and playing
golf. Jack and Kathy lived in Braintree
and Port St. Lucie, FL. She was known
for her kindness and generosity. She
always had a smile and thought of oth-
ers before herself. Many thanks to her
team at Dana Farber Cancer Institute

Age 88, of Braintree, passed away at
home on September 7, 2019. Ruth was
born and raised in S. Boston where she
met her beloved husband of 65 years,
John. Ruth and John were married in
1953, started a family in South Boston
then settled in Braintree where they
have lived since.
Ruth devoted much of her time to
her family. She also enjoyed crafts with
knitting and painting. Ruth will be
remembered for her loving presence
and dependable nature. If you needed
her, she was there for you. In the last
year the PACE Program in Mattapan
gave her much pleasure in the activities
and friends she met there.
Ruth was predeceased by her beloved
husband John Clancy. She is survived
by her loving children Ann Marie Mac-
Donald and her husband John of South
Weymouth, John E. Clancy and his
wife Susan of Brockton, and Maureen
Ferguson and her husband William of
Duxbury. Ruth is also survived by her
cherished grandchildren Amy, John,
Matthew, Sara, Angela, Daniel, John,
Andrew, six great-grandchildren, and
her sister Patricia McBurnie.

Age 93, wife of the late Edward M.
Doherty, Jr., died September 7, 2019, at
Ledgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation
Center in Beverly. Born in Charlestown
to the late James and Delia (Gannon)
Conlon, she was predeceased by both
an infant daughter, Maureen, and a
grandson, Daniel.
Marguerite absolutely loved family
gatherings, had previously been both
an active bowler and tennis player, was
an avid lifelong reader and a longtime
fan of the New England Patriots.
She loved being a part of the St. John
the Evangelist community whether it
was Sodality, Couple’s Club or just en-
joying her fellow family of parishioners.
Marguerite loved her life in Bev-
erly, particularly her great friends and
neighbors from Raymond Farms.
She was very appreciative for all the
friends that she made at the Herrick
House and extremely grateful for all
the care that she received there and
later from the staff at Ledgewood and
CareDimensions Hospice.
Asked how she wanted to be remem-
bered, she simply said, “I tried to live a
good life.”
Surviving her are four sons, Edward
Doherty and his wife Lauren of Beverly,
Timothy Doherty and his wife Susan
of Hull, James Doherty and his wife
Nancy of Beverly and Daniel Doherty
and his wife Regina of Beverly, along
with thirteen grandchildren, Kathryn
and her husband Jesse, Michael and
his wife Kristen, Paul, Elizabeth, Erin,
Sean, Connor, Kara, Max, Owen, Pad-
raic, Griffin, and Olivia.
Also surviving her are a brother-in-
law, Gerard F. Doherty and his wife
Regina of Charlestown, her sister Eileen
Donahue and her husband Jack of
Plymouth and her close cousins, Mary
Farren of Norwood and Joe Conlon and
his wife Alice of Tewksbury.
In addition, she was predeceased by
her sister Genevieve Henning and three
brothers, James, Joseph and Jackie
Conlon.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on
Saturday, September 14, 2019, at St.
John the Evangelist Church, 111 New
Balch Street, Beverly at 10:30am.

Of Jamaica Plain, passed away on the
night of August 28th after a brief illness
and in the loving company of all of
his children and stepchildren. Born in
Brookline in 1931, Charlie studied at
the Runkel School and St. Paul’s School
before attending Harvard, where he
served as the business manager of the
Harvard Crimson. Upon graduation
in 1953, he enlisted in the US Army
and was stationed in Korea. He was
honorablydischargedasasergeant
first class and then completed his
MBA at the Harvard Business School
in 1957. Thereafter, he worked at the
Worcester County National Bank for a
briefstintbeforejoining theinvest-
ment firm of Scudder, Stevens & Clark,
where he worked for the remainder
of his career in the private investment
counsel group. There, he was known
for his humor, candor, short temper, big
heart and solid judgment. In 1955, he
married Marka Spalding and had two
sons. They divorced in 1964. In 1966,
he married Christine Grote and they
had one son. They divorced in 1973.
In 1981, he married the love of his life,
Nancy Stout. The two were active boat-
ers and were often found at Nancy’s
place in Marion, MA. They remained
together until her passing in August
- Charlie served as a Trustee and
as the Treasurer of the New England
Aquarium for many years. He served
as a Trustee on the Board of Simmons
College for roughly thirty years. Charlie
organized many of the major reunions
for his Harvard class. He was an avid
fly fisherman and enjoyed annual trips
salmon fishing in Iceland for almost
twenty years. Self-reliant by nature,
most weekends, even well into his 80’s,
Charlie could be found mowing his
lawn, raking leaves, shoveling snow or
otherwise engaged outdoors. He leaves
three sons, Christopher and his wife
Kate of Lincoln, MA, Peter and his wife
Jenny of Sammamish, WA, David and
his wife Arisa of Brookline, MA, as well
as two stepdaughters by his wife Nancy,
Cynthia of Annapolis, MD and Wendy
of New York, NY and eight grandchil-
dren. Additionally, Charlie is survived
by his sister Eleanor of Cambria, CA
and his identical twin brother, Robert
and his wife Bundy of Penobscot, ME.
Burial will be private and a celebration
of Charlie’s Life will be announced to
family and friends by separate notice.
