Mummy makes sure
brother George lends
a hand on princess’s
first day at school
With a shy smile and a
wave, Princess Charlotte
joined her brother at ‘big
school’ yesterday.
the normally confident
four-year-old seemed a little
more nervous than usual as
she arrived at £6,500-a-term
thomas’s Battersea in south-
west London.
Accompanied by the Duke and
Duchess of Cambridge and older
brother Prince George, Char-
lotte wore a uniform of blue pin-
afore, white summer blouse,
blue and red cardigan, black
shoes and white socks.
She clutched her mother with
both hands and peered from
behind her back at the cameras.
But she soon warmed up, danc-
ing in through the school gate
and giving her carefully brushed
ponytail a cheeky flick.

after 8.15am by the head of the
lower school, helen haslem.
‘First day – very excited,’ Wil-
liam said, when asked how his
daughter was feeling. George,
six, who was holding his father’s
hand, cast a few protective
glances in his sister’s direction
and was said by sources to be
‘hugely excited’ to guide her
round the school where he has
been a pupil for two years.
‘George, you’ll have to show
her the way,’ Kate was heard to
say. William and Kate are under-
stood to have been keen for
Charlotte to join George at the
school as their sometimes shy
little boy has settled in so well.

Kate had been unable to drop
George off on his first day in 2017
as she was expecting Prince

there yesterday, looking elegant
in a £215 Michael Kors dress and
heels and sporting a new, notice-
ably blonder hair style.
