Cop jailed for
viewing porn
near dead kid
A SHAMED policeman
who bought porn at the
home of a dead child while
he waited for an under-
taker to collect the body
has been jailed for a year.
PC Avi Maharaj, 44, was
by himself at the house in
February 2018 when he
used the family’s Virgin TV
account to buy the smut,
costing £25.96.
The body of the dead
boy, 14, was just feet away.
Maharaj, of Hayes, West
London, had already
pleaded guilty to fraud at a
hearing in July.
Southwark crown court
heard how the dead boy’s
father first thought his son,
who had hanged himself,
had been watching the
videos the day he died.
Judge Deborah Taylor,
said: “All right-thinking
people would be appalled
by your gross lack of
decency and respect.”

Staff would get three warnings before
action was taken and Mr Cameron added:

Company boss in bid to cut single-use waste

ONE boss was so fed up at seeing bins
over-spilling with sandwich wrappers
and coffee cups that he plans to make it
a disciplinary offence.
Workers are in a six-week consultation to
change their contracts, meaning they could
face the sack if they wilfully flout new rules.
Crisp packets, sandwich boxes with plastic
windows, takeaway coffee cups (which
usually contain plastic) and plastic water
bottles have all been banned from the office.
The founder of Intelligent Hand Dryers, in
Sheffield, admits it did cause a few “screwed-
up faces” among his workforce of 10.
One staff member even threatened to eat
their crisps in their car. But now Andrew
Cameron, 41, says the staff, who are given free
fresh fruit and cakes, are coming round.
He said: “I looked around at work and I
could see all the waste. Our bins were just
