LOCAL DIGEST
BY BALTIMORE SUN
A Baltimore man who was
released from prison in January
after serving 31 years for murder
has filed a lawsuit accusing city
police of threatening to take
children away from their parents
to coerce false testimony against
him.
Gary Washington, 58, said in a
lawsuit filed in U. S. District
Court that several officers inves-
tigating the shooting death of
Faheem Ali in 1986 coerced a
12-year-old boy and a 13-year-old
girl into wrongly identifying
Washington as the shooter.
“ ‘Cooperate or you’ll never s ee
your mother again.’ With this
and other pointed and repeated
threats, the Officer Defendants
initiated an unjust and under-
handed process that led to Gary
Washington being wrongfully
co nvicted and forced to spend 31
years in prison for crimes he did
not commit,” Washington’s law-
yers wrote in the lawsuit filed
Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the Balti-
more Police Department did not
return calls seeking comment.
Otis Robinson, who was 12
when he first spoke to police,
recanted his statement in 1999,
but Washington stayed in prison
until January when a Baltimore
judge granted his request to hear
the new evidence in the case.
Prosecutors dropped the charg-
es.
Robinson testified i n 1999 that
he had been coerced into saying
Washington was the shooter
when shown his mug shot, say-
ing at the time that officers told
him “if I didn’t cooperate, I
would never see my mother
again.”
According to the lawsuit, Rob-
inson was walking to a corner
store when he saw a group of
men talking across the street
before he heard the fatal shots.
When police brought Robin-
son in for questioning, he told
investigators he heard the gun-
shots and ran to his mother’s
boyfriend’s home but did not
know the group of men and did
not see who fired the weapon,
the lawsuit said.
“A fraid and removed from his
mother, twelve-year-old Otis
crumbled under the pressure,”
the lawsuit said. “Otis agreed to
the Defendants’ lies, and when
asked who the shooter was, Otis
falsely identified [Washington]
as the shooter, an identification
the Officer Defendants knew to
be false.”
“The only evidence that linked
[Washington] to the crime came
from Otis Robinson,” the lawsuit
continued, pointing to the fact
that prosecutors called only Rob-
inson to the witness stand to
testify.
The lawsuit says police also
coerced a 13-year-old girl, named
only as “R.D.” in the lawsuit, who
was standing in the crowd near
the shooting. The lawsuit said
police threatened to take her
away from and possibly arrest
her mother if she did not cooper-
ate.
She did not testify in the case
but signed a witness statement
identifying Washington as the
shooter, the lawsuit said. He was
convicted of first-degree murder
and a weapons c harge on July 20,
198 7.
Washington is suing the offi-
cers involved in the investiga-
tion, the Baltimore City Police
Department, the mayor and city
council for punitive and compen-
satory damages. None of the
officers named appear to still be
with the department as they are
not named in a salary database
for city employees for fiscal year
2018.
The lawsuit alleged that al-
though Washington obtained a
GED while incarcerated and has
found a job with a construction
company since his release, he
lost contact with close friends
and family members over the
years.

Jesus is NOT Michael
The Archangel
Millions of people wrongly believe Michael the archangel is Jesus Christ! While the
Seventh Day Adventists believe Michael is deity, the Jehovah’s Witnesses adamantly
oppose the deity of Christ, even denying Jesus was ever prayed to or worshiped, but
both sadly believe he is Michael! Let’s look at their claims to see if this is credible.
Michael the archangel is only referred to on five different occasions throughout the
entire Bible. Four times are: Dan 10:21; Dan. 12:1; Jude 1:9 and Rev 12:7. The other time
is the following one showing Michael is but just one of the archangels – just one of the
“chief princes”:
“But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one
of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of
Persia.” (Dan. 10:13)
Additionally, the word archangel is only found one time besides Jude 9:
“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice
of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.”
(1 Thess. 4:16)
Which archangel is coming down from heaven is unclear since there are more than one.
It might not even be Michael. Furthermore, we must logically conclude from 1 Thess. 4:16
that if Jesus’ coming with the voice of an archangel makes him an archangel, then Jesus
is a trumpet too, because he is also coming with the trumpet call of God.
This is all the Jehovah’s Witnesses and Seventh Day Adventists got! Nothing shows Jesus
to be Michael the archangel; nonetheless, they have cited those verses to teach their
unfounded “Jesus is Michael” dogma to the destruction of souls. Again, Michael is just
one of the chief princes, but he, and all other angels, also “worship” Jesus (Heb. 1:6),
thereby clearly excluding Jesus from being Michael. As for who Jesus really is, consider
the clarity of this:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him
nothing was made that has been made”. (John 1:1-3)
Before coming to earth Jesus was called “the Word” (Jn. 1:1 cf. 1:14) and shown to be
God by nature (deity). Col. 1:16 shows Jesus created everything visible and invisible,
including all the “invisible” angels, in heaven and earth thereby even creating Michael
the archangel.
After ascending up to heaven the Lord and Savior is still called Jesus (Acts 9:5; Rev.
22 :16). Rev. 22:16 further demolishes the twisting of Rev. 1:1 to wrongly portray Jesus
as an angel for it was Jesus who sent his angel to John. Besides all of that, Hebrews 1
showcases Jesus’ deity and majesty, and it lists 8 ways that Jesus is superior to the
angels, which includes Michael.
Jesus repeatedly received worship on earth (Mt. 14:33; 28:9, 17, etc.), yet angels never
receive worship (Rev 19:10; 22:8-9). Jesus also receives equal praise and worship with
the Father in heaven (Rev. 5:13-14). Besides all that evidence, unlike angels Jesus is
prayed “to” (Acts 7:59; Acts 9:14; 1 Cor. 1:2; etc.), but Jehovah’s Witnesses refuse to do
that also. If Jesus were Michael the archangel, he should not have been prayed to and
worshiped, and yet Jesus was both.
None of the details about Michael can be scripturally connected to the Lord Jesus
Christ. The Seven Day Adventists and Jehovah’s Witnesses’ teaching that Jesus is
Michael the archangel is clearly wrong and pure religious fantasy; and they do so in
violation and neglect of the scriptural evidence. To teach Jesus Christ is Michael the
archangel not only downgrades the PRECIOUS Lord Jesus and robs him of his majesty
and deity, but it also constitutes serious and lethal error concerning the plan of salvation
and going to Jesus directly for eternal life (Jn. 5:40; 4:10; Mt. 11:28).
The early Christians followed and trusted exclusively in Jesus for salvation, and they
received eternal life through him via repentance (Mt. 11:28-30; Acts 16:30-31; 7:59; Jn.
3:16; 10:27; Acts 20:21; 1 Pet. 2:6; 1 Jn. 5:12; etc.). In fact, Jesus is Eternal Life (1 Jn. 1:2).
Do you know him (1 Jn. 2:3,4)? • [Save this AD and give to another.]
